Dungiven Gaelic Football Summer Camp

More than 150 kids took part in Dungiven GAC Annual Summer scheme from the 19th to 23rd July.As the week progressed the weather got better and the kids show off their Gaelic skills.

The kids ranged from the age of four right up to the age of twelve, taking part in Gaelic Games. It was a great week for all those involved with club coaches and parents helping out the County coaches. The kids consisted of many of their underage players but the camp also attracted many new players to the club and it is hoped these kids will continue with the club.

The week was ended with a Blitz sports day Girls/Boys section in Key stage 1 and 2 which all the children thoroughly enjoyed. At the end of the camp all the kids were presented with club rain tops and a football presented by Cathal Mc Keever and Gerard O Kane. Special word of thanks to all those from Dungiven and the County Coaches who helped with the camp.

All County Primary School Hurling Championship

On Friday the All County Hurling Primary School championship took place. From the group stages it was St. Canice Dungiven, St. Brigid's Mayogal, St. Brigid's Tirkane and St. John's Swatragh who qualified for the semi final stages. The schools from Dungiven and Lavey progressed to the final.

The game was very close throughout and the standard of hurling on show was exceptional. St. Canice Dungiven managed to run out winners to win the competition.

After School Gaelic Games in Dungiven

On Thursday after school at St Canice’s Dungiven primary school, Gaelic games was in full flow!

St Canice’s Dungiven primary school teams played St Patrick’s Dungiven year 8s, co-ordinated by Mr Tracey, Mr Mackle and Mr Mc Mullan.

St Canice’s Dungiven girls had a Gaelic football session with Claire Devlin providing the coaching.

Adapting FUN Games for Football (Under 8 – Under 12)

Tonight 20 - 25 coaches took part in a CPD course "Adapting FUN Games for Football" delivered by Paul Callaghan. Thanks to the 15 Dungiven Under 12 Footballers who run through the coaching workshop.

The Road to Croker sponsored by Club Derry

On Tuesday 6th April Dungiven Footballers, Ballinascreen Hurlers and Glenullin Footballers all enjoyed their day out in Croke Park as part of the Derry Under 12 Road to Croker Competition sponsored by Club Derry.

100 young players, their mentors and parents were the special guests of Croke Park today. At 1.30pm they enjoyed a tour of the stadium and museum then from 2.45pm to 4.15pm they took part in Go Games on the famous Croke Park turf, needless to say everyone had a very special day.

Gaelic Start @ Dungiven

Claire Devlin last night was in Dungiven Club delivered the Gaelic Start presentation to almost 30 coaches and parents. Dungiven have 70 under 8's registered and we will begin their programme this Saturday.

St. Canice Dungiven P1 / P2 Club - School Initiative

St. Canice's Dungiven ran a week for P1 / P2 school children to come for a week's coaching organised at the club at the beginning of July. There were 36 kids each day who were put through their paces by some of the clubs senior players. Well done to everyone involved! Pictures attached.
