Hurling and Camogie on Claudy New 3G Pitch

On Wednesday the 2nd of March the Primary 6/7 pupils of St Canices Feeny and St Marys Altinure participated in a hurling and camogie day at Claudys fabulous new 3G pitch. Aided by the glorious sunshine the pupils took part in various games. A special thanks to all the teaching staff from both schools. To the children who went home very tired but they really enjoyable this event. Thanks also to Richard Ferris and Emmett Stewart for organising the event.

Greenhaw Primary School Gaelic Games Fun Day

On Friday the 16th of April the Primary 6 pupils of Greenhaw Primary school participated in a Gaelic fun day. Aided by the glorious sunshine the pupils took part in various games before finishing of their day with a small sided Gaelic blitz. A special thanks Emmett Stewart for coordinating, to the teachers who assisted and to the children who made the day a really enjoyable event.

Primary School Gaelic Football Blitz @ Claudy

On Wednesday the 14th of April Emmett Stewart Derry GPO organised a football blitz for Primary 5's and 6's from St Mary's Altinure, St Colmcilles Claudy and Cumber Claudy decended upon the brand new 3G pitch to test out their football skills. It was a very enjoyable day had by all in the lovely sunshine. A special thanks goes to all the teachers and assisants who helped get the teams organised and ready to play their matches and to the referees who came from St Patricks & St Bridgids college. The children are looking forward to using these fantastic facilities again.

GAA For All Coaching Workshop

On Wednesday night we held a GAA for All workshop at Foreglen GAC. The workshop was designed to help create ideas for coaches who may be working with children who have a disability or special need. We looked at the equipment that is available as well as looking at games aimed at developing the needs of every child. 13 coaches turned out and everyone agreed it had been a very worthwhile evening. Thanks to Paul Callaghan, Ulster Council, Emmett Stewart, Ashleen McCaul and Shauna McCallion for delivering the session.

Gaelic Fun Day @ Vale Centre

At the end of November Emmett Stewart, Derry City GPO organised a Gaelic Games Fun Day for some of his schools. Children from Claudy, Broadbridge, Craigbrack,Greenhaw and Mullaghbouy Primary Schools all ascended on the Vale center for a day of football. The children participated in small games against the competing schools which turned out to be a very enjoyable day for all who took part. A special word of thanks goes to all the schools who took part and their teachers and classroom assisants who helped supervise the event.

Slaughtmanus Club-School Link

Emmett Stewart on Friday organised a day of football coaching and games with Slaughtmanus's feeder primary schools up at the club. Events like this are excellent to create a club-school link. There were children playing at Slaughtmanus on Friday that had never been through the gate before. Hopefully the club can continue to promote their club within the schools and cater for any new children they may get from Friday.
