Sean Dolans School Primary 5 Football Blitz

There was a games day held at Old Library Trust Hall on Friday 15th October 2010 for the Sean Dolans feeder schools. Schools who participated were St Johns, Oakgrove integrated, Rosemount, Gaelscoil Eadain Mhor and Holychild. Approx 120 children participated in a small sided hand-pass game. Special thanks to Joe McKane who helped GPO Ashleen McCaul on the day!

Steelstown GAA Day

Please see photos attached from games day held today at Shantallow Community hall.Schools attended: Steelstown, St Brigids Carnhill and St Pauls. Primary Five children took part in a fun gaelic games day where all children played simple hand-passing games against the other schools. There were approx 65 children who participated and a fun day was had by all. Special thanks to Cathal Harkin from Steelstown Gaelic club who helped referree on the day.

Year 8 Ladies Football Blitz @ Owenbeg

On Thursday last week secondary schools were invited to take part in a ladies football blitz at Owenbeg, unfortunately due to exams etc only three schools could make it and they enjoyed a day out in the sun

Steelstown Under 12 Footballers Back in Action

Steelstown u12 footballers started back on the 2nd February in St Brigid’s Secondary School Carnhill. Steelstown are running in conjunction with the school and their Year 8's. They train every Tuesday night 6.45pm – 8.15pm. Anyone from the Steelstown Area who'd like to come along are more than welcome to do so.

GAA For All Coaching Workshop

On Wednesday night we held a GAA for All workshop at Foreglen GAC. The workshop was designed to help create ideas for coaches who may be working with children who have a disability or special need. We looked at the equipment that is available as well as looking at games aimed at developing the needs of every child. 13 coaches turned out and everyone agreed it had been a very worthwhile evening. Thanks to Paul Callaghan, Ulster Council, Emmett Stewart, Ashleen McCaul and Shauna McCallion for delivering the session.

Gaelic Games Fun Days for Steelstown and Sean Dolans Schools

Ashleen McCaul recently held a Gaelic Games Fun Day for the feeder schools of the two clubs she is responsible for within the Derry City Council area. These event's were very well attended and the children really enjoyed themselves.

Sean Dolans Fun Day was held at the Old Library Trust Hall. The schools that took part were: Holychild, St Johns, Gaelscoil and Rosemount. A special word of thanks to Joe McKane for his help within the schools and on the Games Day.

The Steelstown event was held at Shantallow Community Hall. The schools that took part were: Oakgrove Integrated, Steelstown P.S and St Paul. Approx 120 children participated in the event and a great day was had by all.

Sean Dolans and Steelstown Spooky Friday

On Friday 30th October Sean Dolans and Steelstown both held a Halloween Fun Day. They invited children from the local primary schools down for a days craic!
Sean Dolans operated at the Old Library Trust from 10:00am - 12:00 noon approx 40 children participated.


Steelstown had their funday from 12:30pm - 2:30pm approx 30 children attended. The weather was terrible but everyone managed to have an enjoyable day.
Ashleen McCaul, Derry City GPO coordinated the Halloween fun day's but a special mention must go to both sets of club coaches who helped make it a really enjoyable day for those taking part.

Trench Road P.S. Prove To Be A Tower of Strength

The third annual Tower Hotel Cup was played on the 4th of June in Celtic Park, 8 schools took part with two schools entering two teams bringing the number of teams to ten. Over 100 players enjoyed a great days football with the top two teams from two groups playing in semi-finals, from Trench Road, Chapel Road, Rosemount and Hollybush a repeat of last years final emerged with Hollybush and Trench Road facing each other again.
Trench Road proved the stronger on the day and regained the trophy from Hollybush the holders. The efforts of teachers Conrad McGuigan and Francis Mallon could be seen by the skill shown by their teams as these schools both have strong after schools programmes. The competition was organised and run by Paul Simpson and Ashleen McCaul, helped by Joe McKane and Brian O'Donnell from Sean Dolans and Paddy McNaught from Doire Trasna. The teachers and children were delighted to be playing in Celtic Park's new Stadium and the weather even turned up on the day. Picture of the winning team below:

Primary School Football Blitz @ Celtic Park

On Friday 19th June children from Rosemount, St Johns and Gaelscoil Primary schools each entered two 9-a-side football teams @ a fun football blitz in the hughly impressive Celtic Park. Ashleen McCaul organised the day assisted by Brian and Joe, coaches from the Sean Dolans club. Special thanks must go to Active Clothing who very kindly sponsored trophies for each of the participating schools.

Derry City Primary School Blitz's Continue

Sean Dolans Feeder schools blitz day:
St Johns, Rosemount, Holychild and Gaescoil took part in a Gaelic games fun blitz on Wednesday 13th May 2009 with approx 120 children participating.

Steelstown Feeder schools blitz day:
Steelstown, Hollybush, St Brigids and St Pauls took part in the same event on Friday 15th May 2009 with approx 80 children participating.
The games consisted of teams of five with one solo, one bounce and handpass only. The games were four mins long meaning eveybody there was involved in lots of matches. Ashleen Kealey organised the events.

Primary School Blitz for Steelstown's Feeder Schools

The primary schools linked to Steelstown enjoyed their Gaelic football games day on Friday 27th February. Ashleen McCaul organised the event with the help of a few Steelstown coaches. Over 70 children tool part at Templemore Sports Complex.

Sean Dolans GAA Primary Schools Games Day

The Games Day was held on Wednesday 25th February at Old Library Trust Hall.

Schools participated:
St John's
Holychild
Gaelscoil
Rosemount


There were approx 110 children in attendance. Thanks to Ashleen McCaul Derry GAA Games Promotion Officer for organising the event and to the Sean Dolans coaches who supported her.
