Gaelic Fun Day @ Vale Centre

At the end of November Emmett Stewart, Derry City GPO organised a Gaelic Games Fun Day for some of his schools. Children from Claudy, Broadbridge, Craigbrack,Greenhaw and Mullaghbouy Primary Schools all ascended on the Vale center for a day of football. The children participated in small games against the competing schools which turned out to be a very enjoyable day for all who took part. A special word of thanks goes to all the schools who took part and their teachers and classroom assisants who helped supervise the event.

Gaelic Games Fun Days for Steelstown and Sean Dolans Schools

Ashleen McCaul recently held a Gaelic Games Fun Day for the feeder schools of the two clubs she is responsible for within the Derry City Council area. These event's were very well attended and the children really enjoyed themselves.

Sean Dolans Fun Day was held at the Old Library Trust Hall. The schools that took part were: Holychild, St Johns, Gaelscoil and Rosemount. A special word of thanks to Joe McKane for his help within the schools and on the Games Day.

The Steelstown event was held at Shantallow Community Hall. The schools that took part were: Oakgrove Integrated, Steelstown P.S and St Paul. Approx 120 children participated in the event and a great day was had by all.

Greenlough Under 10 Winter Programme

Just a few pictures from Diarmuid Scullion's Wednesday night coaching sessions with Greenlough. Thirty children from Under 10 level have took part in the sessions, which each night consist of skill work to start off with and finish with a 'Road to Croker' style blitz. The children have enjoyed the coaching thus far, and a word of thanks to club chairman Paul Downey, youth officer Fergal scullion and secretary Anthony Letters for helping out with the coaching. Keep up the good work!

Eoghan Rua Coleraine Gaelic Start

Eoghan Rua Coleraine have began their Gaelic Start Coaching Programme. The course is being run by DENI coaches Ben McGuckin, Clare Devlin and the coaches and parents from Eoghan Rua. 20 Boys and 15 Girls from nursery to P2 took part on Thursday night. The night was enjoyed immensely by all the children and helpers. 12 men and 2 women helped out, the majority were the club coaches and some of the children's parents. Thanks to the parents and club coaches for making it an enjoyable and successful night. Let’s keep it going next week.

St. Patrick's Dungiven After school Gaelic Football

St Patrick’s High School Dungiven have started their “Road to Croker” Programme in Dungiven Sports Center on Monday evenings, with their Year 8 Boys taking part. The Boys are split into 5 teams of 4-a-side and are really enjoying each evening’s football. This event is co-ordinated by Richard Ferris and help is provided from Mr. Mackle and Mr. McMullan, teachers from the school, which was greatly appreciated.

Christy Cooney visit to Bellaghy Under 10's

Attached are a few photo's from when President of the GAA, Christy Cooney visited Bellaghy and witnessed an Under 10 training session. He was very impressed with the standard of coaching and football on show. Well done to Diarmuid Scullion, Martin Mc Faul and the rest of the Bellaghy Underage coaching team.

9 Aside Under 13 Football Blitz Planned for Derry City Clubs

Super 9’s Gaelic Football Blitz for Under 13s will take place at Templemore Sports Complex on Saturday 12th December at 10.30am.

The blitz is available for all clubs within the Derry City Area.

St. Patrick's Pennyburn Primary School Derry Go Games Blitz

These are photos from an internal Go Games tournament which recently took place in St Patricks Pennyburn. Approx 120 Primary 5 pupils over four classes took part against each other. It was a great day for the kids to show off the skills they have learned in small sided conditioned games. Well done to Shauna McCallion, Derry GPO for organising the event.

Key Stage 1 (P.4) Primary School Hurling Blitz

On Wed 25th of November we held our all County KS1 indoor hurling blitz in the Meadowbank Sports Arena in Magherafelt. Six schools attended and enjoyed a full days hurling under the supervision of the Ulster Council coaches and their teachers. The standard was excellent and a fun day was had by all.

Donations of GAA gear arrive in villages in Hungary

Folks the gear I had been collecting in October arrived with children in villages across Hungary in November, I have attached a couple of photograpghs. Well done to T.A.R.G.E.T. community group on such a good project and thanks again to all the clubs and schools who donated gear.
