Vhi Cul Camp Summer Coaching

Last night 36 coaches took part in the Vhi Cul Camp Coaches training evening. Chris Collins briefed the coaches with a power point presentation before Richard Ferris, Paul Simpson and Diarmuid Scullion put them through a practical session out on the grass that will be useful to them when they are out in the camps which begin the first week of July

Year 8 Vocational School's Football League Final

Today in Owenbeg St. Paul's Kilrea and St. Patrick's & St. Brigid's Claudy competed in the Year 8 vocational schools football decider. The game was extremely entertaining with both teams playing an attacking brand of football. The boys from Claudy just done enough with a late goal to run out winners on a scoreline of 4-09 to 2-14.Well done to everyone involved!

Year 8 Vocational School's Football and Camogie Blitz

On Monday the vocational schools had their year 8 football and camogie blitz's at Owenbeg, the event was extremely well attend with 16 teams taking part in the football and 5 in the camogie competition.

St. Paul's Kilrea and St. Patrick's & St. Brigid's Claudy competed in the A final with St. Paul's coming out on top

The B Final was an all city affair with St. Brigid's Carnhill beating Oakgrove Integrated in a very good final.

Year 8 Ladies Football Blitz @ Owenbeg

On Thursday last week secondary schools were invited to take part in a ladies football blitz at Owenbeg, unfortunately due to exams etc only three schools could make it and they enjoyed a day out in the sun

Doire Colmcille St Columba's day

These are some photos from St Columbas day ran by Doire Colmcille recently. They invited u8's, u10's and u12's from Newtoncunningham Donegal and Urney Tyrone. Was a great day and all the kids played loads of matches. Each age group also had two teams from Colmcille.

St. Eithne's Primary School Go Games Blitz

The kids from St Eithnes P.S took part in an end of year class tournament. All the kids from 3 primary seven classes came out to represent their class and practice all the skills they have learnt over the past term. It was a good day for the kids, each played four matches.

Lynco Under 8 Go Games

On Friday night the County's Under 8 footballers all gathered together in Owenbeg to take part in the Lynco Go Games Blitz. 78 teams, approx 750 players took part in a total of 118 games in glorious conditions.

Year 8 Gaelic Football @ Templemore, Derry

Today Paul Simpson organised year 8 Gaelic Football Blitz at Templemore sports complex. 4 schools / 6 teams played 16 games in the glorious weather.

North Derry Primary School Football Championship Day

Today the North Derry Primary School Football Championships took place at an extremely warm Owenbeg. 340 young footballers took part in a very sporting day of football.

The 9 aside final was contested between St. Mary's Altinure and St. Canice Dungiven, the lads from Dungiven played wonderful stuff to come out victorious.

The 7 aside final was between St. Matthew's Drumsurn and St. John's Dernaflaw, the final was an excellent game with Drumsurn scoring 2-01 in the final 2 minutes to win by the slimiest of margins.

The 5 aside final was between St. Aidan's Magilligan and Ballyhacket Primary school. Again it was a excellent game of football but the Castlerock players just had too much legs in the final few minutes to win their first every primary school competition.

Credit must go to the teachers, school and club coaches for the extremely high technical ability on show. Well done to everyone involved and a special word of thanks to the young secondary school students who took time out of their study leave to help out with the refereeing.

Na Magha Schools Go Games Hurling

Over 150 school children recently took part in the first Na Magha Schools Go Games of the year. There were 6 boys teams and five girls teams competing on the day with each team getting approx four or five games each. The day was held to give the children a practice run for the up and coming Na Magha cup being held at the end of June. Many thanks to the Na Magha coaches for helping out on the day. There was a great show of skill by all pupils involved.
